Cable splice at LOC
This past winter the T bar leading to the top of outing club hill was damaged ue to error, the ski hill was forced to shut down for the season. Our practicum class was able to help the lift techs replace a section of wire. The splicing process is a very labor intensive process. it involves removing the wire from the shivs and then removing the section of wire that needs to be replaced, once removed the new section must be un wraped at both ends and then interlocked back together with the existing line. Unfortunatly dur to bad weather and counter weight issues the splice couldnt be completed that day.
Sunday river ski buisness expo
Yes, im a little late but whatever. Last week we attended the snowsports summit at Sunday river resort in bethel maine. it was a great oppertunity to learn more about the buisness side of resorts, also i was able to meet many important ski area gurus who filled my brain with many things to think about.
i was able to speak with companies such as:
Chairkid/ Neveplast
Rtp Systems
Efx Balance systems
Pisten Bully
Rossignol
The company that stood out the most that day to me was Pisten Bully. The brand spankin new cats that were sitting outside the confrence room were really an eye catcher. Pisten bully has implemented a few new helpful tools on there latest modle cats. for instance, they offer both stick and wheel controlled cats, they recently added a higher quality wider track to both sides to add stability and traction, and also a new sleek tiller design. It seemed as though that more and more mountains are switching to Pisten Bully.

Yesterday at the outing club there were some big plans in the works. There is talk of a gnarly fall festival incluing a skate jam, bon fire, and massive amounts of pumpkins. i think this event will bring alot of attention to the lynon outing club and also the mountain rec department at lsc.
